Chicago’s frigid weather is worse than parts of Siberia, the Yukon and the Arctic. In fact, the deep freeze is even colder than recent temperatures on Mars. The lowest temperature ever recorded in Chicago was minus 27 on Jan. 20, 1985.
The city has started to shut down, with everything from museums to Schools, Amtrak and US postal services. Chicagoans are preparing for bitter cold still to come. As temperatures plunge across the country, staying indoors and warm is not always an option for the nation’ homeless.
Homelessness is a desperate situation, regardless of what time of year it is. If you see someone in need a help, find them a shelter, offer warm clothes and a blanket or buy them a hot drink or something to eat, helping someone in dire need goes along way.
